Who are we?

Established in September of 2010, Marchwood Music has continued to bring joy to the local community through the musical talent of its students.  Marchwood Music has shown that music can touch people’s lives in a multitude of ways, whether that be through music lessons or children’s birthday parties. Now, Marchwood Music is proud to announce their next musical undertaking: Pre K Music Classes for children ages 1-5.

What are we doing?

These classes are directed towards introducing children to the basic concepts of music through classroom experience. The classes are centered around three key building blocks of music: tempo (the speed of a musical piece), dynamics (the volume of a musical piece), and pitch (the tones in a musical piece). Over the course of these classes, children will explore the concepts of tempo, dynamics, and pitch by working with instruments, moving their bodies, utilizing their vast imaginations, and simply having fun in a safe, welcoming environment.
First-hand experience is one of the most valuable ways for children to learn about music. Rhythm is internalized by children in ways ranging from their heartbeat to the pace at which they walk down a street. Tempo is ingrained in children whenever they speed up their movements or slow them down. Finally, when children change their inflection while talking, that is similar to how a piece of music can change its pitch. The goal of these classes is to take these habits and use them to show children new ways of perceiving music, in addition to introducing fun activities to help support these core concepts of music.

When are these lessons taking place?

Marchwood Music is thrilled to begin their first session of classes in Fall of 2017, with succeeding sessions to follow. These classes will take place at Marchwood Music, located at 4 Marchwood Rd, Exton, PA 19341.
